Dr Williams was awarded his second degree, a Specialist Doctorate degree in Orthodontics from Liverpool University, where he won the Liverpool Orthodontic Shield and Membership in Orthodontics case prizes reflecting the exceptional regional and national standard of his clinical work. He was also awarded the Geoffrey Fletcher Scholarship to undertake further research in America, where he performed research on 3 dimensional facial symmetry and taught trainee orthodontists. His research continues with the aim of detecting and correcting facial asymmetry in patients. Gareth has contributed to National conferences, and has published in peer-reviewed dental journals. He regularly lectures in both English and Welsh. More recently, he spent time as a visiting Professor in a number of Cambodian Universities.
Dr Williams gained his initial qualification as a Dental Surgeon in 2005 where he won numerous awards including the Magdalen Morgan Scholarship, JWS Laboratory Award and Dental Defence Union Audit award. He was awarded membership to the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2009. He has worked and trained in various parts of Wales, England, and Australia in the fields of general private practice, oral and maxillofacial surgery, paediatric dentistry, restorative dentistry, dental public health and during this time won the Eagle award for the presentation of his clinical work and the General Professional Training award for an audit conducted into sharps injury management of surgeons in hospitals. He also gained funding from the Welsh Assembly Governement for the patenting of a self-designed surgical device to reduce the number of these incidents.
Gareth enjoys achieving excellent results for his patients. Having worked in many locations, he has a wealth of experience in all forms of orthodontic appliances and treatment types, including Aligners (Invisalign etc), Lingual (Incognito, Win, etc), Conventional appliances (Damon, Smartclip, Innovation, Empower, Clarity, etc), Surgical cases (Impacted teeth, jaw surgery etc).
